โฆ Synopsis
A new method of the analysis of neutral sugars was developed based on the separation of their corresponding glycamines. Sugars and ammonia were combined by means of the reduction with sodium cyanoborohydride. The glycamines thus obtained were quantitatively analyzed by an automatic amino acid analyzer. Satisfactory results were obtained in the analyses of the constituent sugars of several polysaccharides and glycoconjugates.

A method for the quantitation of picomole amounts of neutral and amino sugars in glycoconjugates was developed. Glycoconjugates were hydrolyzed with a mixture of equal amounts of 4 M trifluoroacetic acid and 4 M hydrochloric acid, and the free amino groups were acetylated. Sugars were coupled with 2
## Methods for the quantitation of aspartylglucosamine using an amino acid analyzer equipped with a physiological column and dual photometers were developed. Aspartylglucosamine and urea coelute, but their ninhydrin derivatives have different color factors at 440 and 590 nm. The concentration of a
D-Glucosaminic acid (DGA) was investigated as an early-eluting internal standard under single-column cation-exchange chromatography conditions because it elutes early in the analysis between urea and aspartic acid and obeys Beer's law. The oligosaccharides of chitosan, glucosamine through chitohexaose, were separated and quantitated with the use of an amino acid analyzer. The oligosaccharides can be satisfactorily resolved with a step gradient using two buffers, but resolution is improved with a linear buffer gradient. Using exper
