โœฆ Synopsis

A new scan mode is demonstrated for the identification of the presence of multiply charged ions in a mixture which contains singly charged background ions. This scan mode can be used to identify candidates for MS/ MS in a complex mixture of ions, where multiply charged peptide ions are preferred for obtaining sequence information. In contrast with the conventional precursor ion scan mode, the new scan mode is more sensitive and provides a more general screening tool in the selection of candidate peptide and protein ions for MS/ MS. It can be applied with triple-quadrupole and quadrupole/time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometers.

This paper describes a new scanning mode for quadrupole mass spectrometers. In accordance with the theoretical equations of ion motion in a quadrupolar field, an alternative method of scanning is possible varying only the RF applied to the rods of the quadrupole, keeping constant the amplitude of th

A new derivatization reaction was developed for the charactertization of organic acids by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry in the highly sensitive positive-ion mode, using N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and N,N'-dimethylethylenediamine. Scanning force microscopy is extended by the pulsed force mode from simple imaging of topography to measuring elastic, electrostatic and adhesive sample properties. Lateral forces are virtually eliminated so that mapping of delicate samples with high resolution in air and ร‘uids is easily possible. S

We introduce a new design for the optical cuvette and a new optical lay-out for the Scanning Flow Cytometer (SFC) that permits measurement of the angular dependency of the scattered light from individual moving particles. The improved optical scheme of the SFC allows measurement of the angular scatt
