โœฆ Synopsis

This communication describes a satisfactory method for staining the pepsinogen granules in the gastric glands. The problem of their staining is discussed by Bensley ('32) and Plenk ( '32). These reviews emphasize the fact that workers in this field have been handicapped by the lack of a reliable technique for preserving and specifically staining pepsinogen granules.

Methods

The specimens of gastric mucosa must be fixed while perfectly fresh.

An optimized method for reverse staining of proteins in polyacrylamide gels is described. The method is based on the selective precipitation of a white imidazole-zinc complex all along the gel except in the protein bands. The high selectivity of this method allows a "toning procedure" which turns th
