Side Chain Methyl Analogues of ∆8-THC. -In view of the interest to investigate the effect of the variation of the cannabinoid side chain upon the potency the compounds (I) are synthesized by acid catalyzed condensation of the appropriate substituted resorcinols with menthadienol. ✦ Synopsis
The synthesis of (6aR, lOaR)-trans-3-(1',3'-dithian-2'-yl]-6a,7,8,lOa-tetrahydro-6,6,9trimethyl-6H-dibenzo[b,d]pyran-l-01 t-butyldimethylsilyl ether (4&) is reported. The use of this compound as a source of side chain derivatives of cannabinoids is illustrated by syntheses of l'-,2'-,3'-and 4'-hydroxy-A'-THC, and 3-carboxy-6,6,9-trimethyl-6H-dibenzo[b,d]pyran-l-o1 (6).

## Abstract (−)‐Δ^9^‐Tetrahydrocannabinols specifically deuterated at the __n__‐pentyl side chain were prepared using the corresponding resorcinols as key intermediates. To obtain the deuterated resorcinols we developed conditions under which no deuterium scrambling or loss was observed. The method
Rats were trained in a two-lever operant box in drug discrimination procedure to respond differentially to the effects induced by 3 mg/kg of (-) delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta 9-THC) and the drug vehicle. Tests with (-) delta 9-THC and the dimethyl-heptyl (DMH) homologue of (-) delta 8-THC indi
1. The objective and subjective effects of 0.5 and 1.5 meg/kg of LSD intramuscularly were compared with those of 75 and 225 mcg/kg of (--)-AP-transtetrahydrocannabinol by smoking in the same eight subjects. 2. The objective effects of LSD and THC differed markedly. LSD increased body temperature, s
