✦ Synopsis
In the title structure, C 16 H 10 N 2 O 3 S, there are two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. In one molecule, the dihedral angle between the indole ring system and the phenyl ring is 68.3 (2) , and in the other it is 80.3 (2) . C-HÁ Á ÁO, C-HÁ Á ÁN and C-HÁ Á Á interactions are observed in the crystal structure.

In the title compound, C~21~H~15~NO~3~S~2~, the phenyl ring of the phenylsulfonyl substituent makes a dihedral angle of 73.6 (1)° with the mean plane of the indole ring system, whereas the phenyl ring of the phenylsulfanyl group forms a dihedral angle of 73.9 (1)° with the mean plane of the indole r
In the title molecule, C 21 H 17 NO 3 S 2 , the sulfonyl-bound and sulfinyl-bound phenyl rings form dihedral angles of 82.04 (5) and 26.26 (8) , respectively, with the indole ring system. In the crystal structure C-HÁ Á ÁO, C-HÁ Á Á andinteractions form a two-dimensional network.
