The Sn atom of the title compound, [Sn(C~6~H~5~)~2~(C~12~H~12~ClNO~3~)], is in a distorted SnNC~2~O~2~ trigonal–bipyramidal geometry and forms five- and six-membered chelate rings with the tridentate ligand. One phenyl group is disordered over two positions with occupancy factors 0.58 (3):0.42 (3).

In the title complex, [Ni(C 14 H 11 N 3 OS)(C 5 H 5 N)], the Ni II atom is N,O,S-chelated by the deprotonated salicylaldimine-4phenylthiosemicarbazide dianion and is also coordinated by a pyridine molecule, the coordinating atoms giving rise to a square-planar geometry for the Ni atom. The asymmetri
