C NMR spectra have been recorded for eleven piperidin-4-one oximes and for seven of them 'H NMR spectra have been recorded at 270 MHz. The effect of oxhation on the N M R chemical shitts is discussed. The conformations of the oximes are also discussed, based on the observed chemical shifts. Althoug

โฆ Synopsis
The 400 MHz t H and 15 MHz 13 C N MR spectra of a series of 2,4-diphenylquinoline derivatives are presented. The characteristic H-3 and ipso-phenyl carbon signals are the most useful for the identification of these compounds. The effects of a peri-phenyl/methyl couple upon the ~ H and 13C NMR spectra have been studied; these arise from the rotation and splaying out of the 4-phenyl ring.
* PQ: phenylquinoline. tValues in parentheses are for the appropriate methyl group.
