โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The integrated ^13^C NMR intensity of the glycogen Cl resonance was measured in skeletal muscle (biceps femoris region) of nine rabbits under in vivo conditions. Concurrent chemical determinations of glycogen content showed that the in vivo signal was 1.02 ยฑ 0.06 the intensity of analytical samples, where glycogen is known to be โˆผ 100% visible. ยฉ 1991 Academic Press, Inc.

An in vivo 13C NMR study was performed to investigate whether the relaxation properties of the C-1 carbon of the glucopyranose residues of glycogen changed as the molecule increased in size. There was no change in resonance intensity or linewidth. Therefore, no significant change in T1 or T2 was obs

## Abstract The accuracy of the measurement of total muscle glucose by __in vivo__ ^13^C NMR spectroscopy was tested in five normal volunteers during a euglycemic [1โ€^13^C]glucose infusion. In vivo NMR has focused on using "P and 'H to study metabolism in humans. Comparable "C NMR studies have not been undertaken, presumably, because of its insensitivity. We report herein that the natural abundance I3C signal from CI glycogen is observable. The ability to observe the signal opens new

## Abstract With the use of localized ^13^C MRS in conjunction with [1โ€^13^C]โ€Dโ€glucose infusion, it is possible to study brain glycogen metabolism in vivo. The purpose of this study was to validate in vivo ^13^C MRS measurements by comparing them with results from a standard biochemical assay. To
