The title compound, [Co 3 , is an acetate-and phenolate-bridged trinuclear cobalt(II) complex. The central Co atom, lying on an inversion centre, is in an octahedral geometry. Each terminal Co atom is in a squarepyramidal geometry.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C~12~H~9~O~2~)~2~], contains one half-molecule; the Cu atom lies on a centre of symmetry. The chelate ring is not planar and has a twist conformation. The dihedral angle between the naphthalene six-membered rings is 3.55 (3)°.
