The title compound, [Co 3 , is an acetate-and phenolate-bridged trinuclear cobalt(II) complex. The central Co atom, lying on an inversion centre, is in an octahedral geometry. Each terminal Co atom is in a squarepyramidal geometry.

The structure of the title compound, C 19 H 22 N 2 O 2 , shows two intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen-bonding interactions. The packing is stabilized through van der Waals contacts and two C-HÁ Á Á interactions.

In the title compound, [Zn(C~17~H~16~N~2~O~2~)(H~2~O)], the Zn^II^ atom has a distorted pentacoordinate square-pyramidal geometry. A mirror plane passes through the Zn^II^ atom, the central C atom of the propyl group and the O atom of the coordinated water molecule. The two planar Schiff base groups
