The title compound, C~18~H~11~F~4~NO, a Schiff base, has been structurally characterized. One intramolecular hydrogen bond influences the conformation of the molecule. The crystal structure is extended into a one-dimensional chain along the __c__ axis __via__ π–π stacking interactions.

The title compound, C 16 H 19 NO, is a product of a Mannich reaction involving 2-naphthol, formaldehyde and piperidine. The piperidine ring has a chair conformation. The molecular structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond, linking the naphthol OH group and the piperidine N
