## Abstract Cassaidine has been converted into cassaine by way of bisdehydro‐cassaidine. Both cassaine and bisdehydro‐cassaidine are reduced to cassaidine by sodium borohydride. The ring A hydroxyl group of cassaic acid can therefore be assigned 3β equatorial configuration.
