✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Results of a series of experimental investigations by means of X‐rays of NPOOB crystals are reported. These results refer to the anisotropy of thermal expansion, to the smectic‐nematic phase transition and to critical scattering accompanying that phase transition. It is suggested that the smectic‐nematic phase transition is continuous.
