✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, a novel wide‐band CPW‐fed antenna is proposed with low temperature co‐fired ceramic (LTCC) technique. Compared with the conventional coplanar antennas, the compact antenna has two different layers embedded in the LTCC substrate. The principal advantage of the design is that the size of the antenna is significantly reduced meanwhile the wide‐band characteristics can be achieved. Experimental result for the return loss of the antenna is presented to validate the design. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract This paper presents a new CPW‐fed monopole antenna, which is composed of two stacked circles with different radii. This novel structure reduces the dimension and improves the impedance bandwidth dramatically. The measured bandwidth defined by VSWR <2.5 is from 3.15 GHz to 27.5 GHz, i.e.
