โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

We use a scanning nearโ€field microscope (SNOM) in combination with a time resolved detection scheme to measure the evolution of the nearโ€field and farโ€field of InGaN laser diode (LD) waveguide modes. We observe lateral mode competition, filamentation, and beam steering. Here we compare the lateral mode dynamics for ridge waveguide LDs and oxide stripe LDs which are predominantly index and gain guided, respectively. (ยฉ 2006 WILEYโ€VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. ## Abstract In this paper we investigate the waveguiding (WG) of direct green InGaN laser diodes grown on __c__โ€plane GaN substrates. The problem of parasitic modes emerges due to the reduced refractive index difference between the GaN waveguide and AlGaN cladding layers for green compared to blue

## Abstract We report the 1000 mW single mode operation of a planar blueโ€violet laser diode with inner stripe waveguide. Dislocation-free blue-green laser diodes of (ZnCd)Se/(ZnMg)(SSe) show a ''slow-mode" degradation during device operation. This degradation is caused not by generation and propagation of macroscopic defects, but by microscopic-point defect reaction (marked enhancement in its concentration and resulti
