✦ Synopsis

Results of wave-dispersed third harmonic generation measurements in sublimed Cso thin films are reported and discussed within a three-level model. Two strong resonant enhancements in cubic susceptibility xc3) ( -3~; o, w, w) are observed. The first one, occurring at a fundamental wavelength of 1.3 pm with a x@) ( -30; o, W, o) maximum value of 6.1 x 1 O-" esu, is interpreted in terms of a two-photon resonance with the one-photon forbidden electronic Tls level. The second resonance at 1.064 urn, with a maximum value of xc3) ( -3~; w, w, o) = 8.2 x 1 O-" esu is interpreted as a three-photon resonance with the lowest onephoton allowed T,. electronic level.

Third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility, k3) of symmetrically octa-substituted metalfree phthalocyanine thin films measured by the third-harmonic generation technique are reported. The metal-free hthalocyanine has been found to show a 3) ( -3w; 44 m) value as large as 7 . 7 3 ~ lo-'\* esu at 1.

## Abstract __An ultrathin composite film containing anionic Ag‐His complexes (His: L‐Histidine) and oppositely charged BH‐PPV was fabricated by means of the electrostatic layer‐by‐layer self‐assembly technique. UV/Vis spectra showed a continuous deposition process of Ag‐His complexes and BH‐PPV. T
