✦ Synopsis

Absorption and photoemission spectra of naphthalene-rare gas matrices are reported. Bands arising from transitions to the n = 2.3 impurity Wannier states of naphthalene in this condensed system are observed. From measured values of the molecular ionization potenti'al. threshold energy for electron photoemission and ionization potential of the naphthalene in the matrix. values of the medium polarization energy by the positive hole and the energy of the quasi-free excess electron in the medium are deduced.

Electronic excitations of XeMAr,%-clusters are studied using fluorescence excitation spectroscopy in the energy range of the electronic excitations of pure Xe. The composition of the clusters is changed between XeAr, and pure Xe,M by varying the concentration of Xe gas in a coexpansion between 0.01%
