✦ Synopsis

The constituents of the essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of Stachys obliqua L. (Lamiaceae) grown in Fethiye, western Anatolia, were investigated by GC and GC±MS analysis. A total of 31 compounds were detected, 29 of which (representing 97.1% of the total oil) were fully identi®ed. The major components were germacrene-D (25.4%), thymol (16.4%), limonene (6.2%), borneol (4.9%), a-pinene (4.7%) and isomenthol (3.4%). Identi®cation of the compounds was based on retention times, MS data and comparison with authentic samples.
