## Abstract We previously showed that gap junction intercellular communication mediates the bystander effect in anticancer gene therapy with the herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (HSV‐tk) and ganciclovir. Because most cancer cell lines have lost their ability to communicate through gap junction
