โœฆ Synopsis

The Raman linewidths of the carbon-halogen stretching mode in several halobenzenes were measured as a function of temperature and in dilute cyclohexane solution_ It was found that, as in an earlier investigation on haloalkanes, the vibrational relaxation efficiencies, pi;',, vary in the order Cl > Br > I. The temperature dependence of qso, together with the results in dilute solution, provide evidence that dipolar interactions play a significant role in vibrational relaxation in these systems.

We have investigated the vibrational relaxation of the OH impurity stretch mode in amorphous SiO 2. At low temperatures, a short relaxation time of ~-10-l0 s is found that varies strongly across the inhomogeneously broadened absorption line. The inhomogeneous broadening is caused by a site-dependent

The precise Raman linewidths, wavenumber shifts and integrated intensities of the isotropic parts of the Raman spectra in the CyN stretching region 2210-2250 cm-1 were obtained for the m(CyN) stretching mode of acrylonitrile (acryl) in (acryl + phenol) and (acryl + methanol) binary mixtures. The con
