Photoemission cmss sections of Penning ionization have been measured at 150 meV for collision of He\*( 2 %3 ) with N1O by using the crossed-beam method and observing fluorescence in the 335-415 nm region. The emission cross section of the NzO+ (;d %+-g %) system obtained is (7.7 f 2.1) x 10-\*0m2. T

✦ Synopsis
Emission spectra of the N20c (A %+-R "II,) system produced by electron impact on jet-cooled N20 have been measured at impact energies of 18-300 eV. The vibrational population for the I' level relative to the 0' level of the A state was found to decrease rapidly with increasing impact energy and level-off above 30 eV, whereas that for the 3* level was essentially constant. The branching ratio, u( I')/u( O'), at higher impact energies deviates from what can be expected from vertical ionization based on the Franck-Condon principle. This non-Franck-Condon behavior is probably caused by autoionization of the Rydberg states converging to the C2Zf ion state.
