## A metachromatic dye. 1.9-dimethylmethylene blue (DMB) reacts with bacterial endotoxins. This interaction results in a shift of the absorption maximum of DMB to shorter wavelengths. The findings indicate that the negatively charged lipid moiety of the endotoxic lipopolysaccharide reacts with DMB.

We have developed a simple method for the quantitative determination of tellurite in biological media. This assay is suitable for studying tellurite uptake in bacteria and overcomes the problems of older techniques which are time consuming and labor intensive. In earlier protocols diethyldithiocarba
## Abstract Bacterial poly(hydroxyalkanoates) (PHAs) vary in the composition of their monomeric units. Besides saturated sideβchains, unsaturated ones can also be found. The latter leads to unwanted byβproducts (THF ester, secondary alcohols) during acidic cleavage of the polymer backbone in the co
