✦ Synopsis

electronic relaxation

We report a theoretical study oftransient behaviour ofbarrierless electronic reactions in solution. We havegeneralized theearly theory of Oster and Nishijima to the low-friction and small-time domain. An analytical form for the decay ofthe integrated excited state is derived. We point out the strong friction and temperature dependence of the decay rate in the transient domain.
