✦ Synopsis

Ionic products have been observed in collisions of alkali atoms an.1 halogen molecules in the eV region. The energy dependence of t.Ys total cross sections for ion-production has been measured for K, Na and Li on Br2 and a discussion of the results is given based on the Landau Zener formula.

A comparatively simple interpretation of the method of Firsov [Sov. Phys. Sputtered Na and K beams have been used to study collisional excitation of aIkali atoms by moIea&s. Na\*(3'P)\_ and K\*(4'P) was detected by its radiative decay. There are mme indications ;hat excitation of other states may pLy an important role at higher energies. lector is AE/E = 0125 X (!Ziev )\
