β¦ Synopsis
Ionic products have been observed in collisions of alkali atoms an.1 halogen molecules in the eV region. The energy dependence of t.Ys total cross sections for ion-production has been measured for K, Na and Li on Br2 and a discussion of the results is given based on the Landau Zener formula.

A comparatively simple interpretation of the method of Firsov [Sov. Phys. JETP 21, 1001 (1951)] is used to calculate symmetric resonant charge transfer cross sections for the first 20 (nontransition) elements H through Ca in the range of low and intermediate collision velocities (Β£1.0 1 10 8 cm/s).
Sputtered Na and K beams have been used to study collisional excitation of aIkali atoms by moIea&s. Na\*(3'P)\_ and K\*(4'P) was detected by its radiative decay. There are mme indications ;hat excitation of other states may pLy an important role at higher energies. lector is AE/E = 0125 X (!Ziev )\
