โœฆ Synopsis

A comparatively simple interpretation of the method of Firsov [Sov. Phys. JETP 21, 1001 (1951)] is used to calculate symmetric resonant charge transfer cross sections for the first 20 (nontransition) elements H through Ca in the range of low and intermediate collision velocities (ยฃ1.0 1 10 8 cm/s). The results obtained show good agreement with corresponding experimental data and with the theoretical results of Sakabe and Izawa [ATOMIC DATA AND NUCLEAR DATA TABLES 49, 257 (1991)]. Discrepancies between the two sets of theoretical data are discussed.

Ionic products have been observed in collisions of alkali atoms an.1 halogen molecules in the eV region. The energy dependence of t.Ys total cross sections for ion-production has been measured for K, Na and Li on Br2 and a discussion of the results is given based on the Landau Zener formula.

Total resonsnt charge-transfer cross sections of (Na+,No) and (K',K) collisions are calculated using atomic wavefunctions and model potentials within the framework of the impact parameter formalism in complete analogy with an earlier successful calculation concerning Rb and Cs atoms. In the present
