✦ Synopsis
Sputtered Na and K beams have been used to study collisional excitation of aIkali atoms by moIea&s. Na*(3'P)_ and K*(4'P) was detected by its radiative decay. There are mme indications ;hat excitation of other states may pLy an important role at higher energies.
lector is AE/E = 0125 X (!Ziev )*'2. Because the multiplier efficiency for the sodium D-tine is much higher than for the radiation (42P+4%) of the frost excited potassium state, both glass-and interference fiiters could be used for the sodium measurements.
