โฆ Synopsis
Journal of Orthopaedic Rrsearch in 1996 includes a major change; with the retirement of Toby Hayes, Timothy Wright has assumed the position of Co-Editor for manuscripts reporting original studies of orthopaedic biomechanics and biomaterials. Fourteen years ago, when the Orthopaedic Research Society established the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, the first Editorial Advisory Board decided that the multidisciplinary nature of orthopaedic research required two editorial offices, one responsible for papers reporting clinical and biological studies and the other responsible for papers with a primary focus on biomechanics or biomaterials. The success of the Journal in attracting original investigations that span the biomechanics, biomaterials, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and clinical study of the musculoskeletal system encouraged the current Editorial Advisory Board to continue the structure based on two editorial offices that share the same review process and standards. Thus, articles reporting the application of engineering methods to orthopaedic research should be sent to Dr. Wright's office in New York, and clinical articles and those dealing primarily with the biological aspects of orthopaedic research should continue to be sent to my office in Iowa City.
