Alkenyl and alkynyl isocyanides were synthesised and then reacted, using microwave flash-heating technology, with thiophenol, 2-mercaptoethanol and ethanethiol, in the presence of a radical initiator, to give highly functionalised pyrrolines and pyroglutamates. Direct comparison with results obtaine
