โฆ Synopsis
The VW spectra of methylvinylsilane and propylene are reported and corresponding transitions are assigned. The small red shift of the w-r* transition and the Inve blue shift of the CT-O* excitation of the methyl group in mcthylvinylsiianc may bc attributed to the +I inductive cffcct of silicon without involving interaction between d orbitals and the n system. No cvidcnce for a second allowed TTTT* transition is found in methylvinylsilane.
