The ยฏuorescence of pyrenyl labelled polystyrene has been investigated. The ratio of excimer to monomer intensities (I e /I m ) is found to vary tortuously with increasing concentration (C) and displays two critical concentration points, C at about 3.2 ร 10 ร2 g ml ร1 and C m at about 0.32 g ml ร1 .
Excimer formation of pyrenyl labels attached to polystyrene has been studied in concentrated solution and solvent-plasticized ยฎlm. The ratio of excimer to monomer intensities (I e / I m ) is found to vary tortuously with increasing concentration (C) and display a critical concentration point at C g
intramolecular excimer formation in 2,4-diphenylpentanes has been examined in a homologous series of alkanes, in ethanol and in mixtures of ethanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol. The ratio of the emission intensities of dimer and monomer (ID/I.) is not affected in low viscosity solvents but, above 4
