✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The synthesis of two carbon‐14 labelled oral hypoglycemic benzo(b)furansulphonylureas is deseribed. The starting materials 2,3 ‐dihydrobenzo (b)furan ‐7 ‐carboxylic acid and 5 methyl–2, 3‐dihydrobenzo (b)furan‐7‐^14^C‐carboxylic acid were prepared in high yield by carbonation of appropriate Grignard reagents. The final products were obtained with specific activities of 49 and 44 mCi/mmole and radiochemical purities of greater than 99%.
