✦ Synopsis
Trrs-(4-morphohnecarborhthlonto-S, S') iron (III) (FeM) and Its dlchloromethane solvate, (FeMXH&), hdVe been prepared and theu temperature-dependent Mbssbauel and EPR spectra have been determmed at temperatures between hquld nitrogen and amblent. The Mossbauer spectra of FeM+CH#2 differ consrderably from that of FeM and JS interpreted in terms of a four-hne spectrum at 77 K. The EPR spectra of the two complexes mdlcate that the lower spm state of leM*CH#12 populates much more raprdly m the temperature range studled (100-300 K) than does FeM. These results support the postulation of an S = S/2 4 S = l/2 SpJn-eqUlhbrJUm for FeM and a CorrespondrngS = S/2 ar S = 3/2 eqmhbnum for reMXH2Cl~.
