โœฆ Synopsis

Abatract-Supcrior activity of anatase TiO, towards photodegradation of a series of organic compounds is interpreted in terms of difkrences in the surface behaviour of anatase and rutile. Very stable surface peroxides are shown to be formed at the anatase during photo-oxidation reactions but to be absent from the rutile surface.

## Abstract The effect of calcination temperature on the photocatalytic degradation of phenol with aqueous suspensions of synthetic anatase and rutile TiO~2~ under UV light irradiation (__ฮป__ > 320 nm), was studied in the absence and presence of NaF. The presence of fluoride accelerates the degrada
