✦ Synopsis

Working on the basis of a theoretical equation for the surface tension of liquids recently deduced by Men and Stroud, a semi-empirical relationship was obtained between this quantity and the isothermal compressibility which, through the performance of several approximations, will embrace some widely publi~ed relationships as special cases, The results agree satisfactorily with experimental data for the most characteristic simple liquids.

Previous work has shown that, for a series of experimental autoclaved aerated concretes with porosities ranging from O.48 to 0.78, compressive strength is linearly related to the solid/pore volume ratio determined by helium pycnometry. In the work described here, this type of relationship has been

A satisfactory correlation between the temperature of radiothermoluminescence (RTL) peaks and phase transition points has been found in simple hydrocarbons. RTL peaks due to a glass transition phenomenon are observed clearly in ethane, propane and other compounds. These compounds were deposited rapi
