## Abstract The reaction between hydrogen and pyrites under suitable conditions gives good yields of hydrogen sulphide; practically the whole of the labile sulphur of pyrites can be removed from the ore, leaving ferrous sulphide. Under the conditions described in this paper, the rate of formation o

β¦ Synopsis
The reaction between HsS and NO 2 has been studied over the temperature range 448 Β°K to 528 Β°K. When PNO2 is greater than 3PH2 S the reaction has the stoichiometry: H2S + 3NO s ~H20 + SO2 + 3NO. At lower NO2/H2S ratios, sulphur is a product. In a Pyrex reaction vessel, the reaction is heterogenerous and -dPNos/dt = 10 TM + 0.05 exp (-53.0 + 0.4/RT )
[NO2]0.95 +-0.1 [H2S ] 1.28 +0.09 mol cm -3 sec "1.
It is proposed that the initial reaction is between NO2 and adsorbed HsS, i.e., H2S + wall ~ HsS(ads ), H2S(ads )+NO 2 ~ HS+HNO 2.

The reaction 2N02 + ROH = RON0 + HN03 (R = CH3 or CzHb) has been studied using the FTIR method at reactant pressures from 0.1 to 1.0 torr at 25Β°C. The termolecular rate constant for the forward reaction was determined to be (5.7 f 0.6) X cm6/molec2.s for CH30H and (5. The corresponding equilibrium
## Abstract An investigation of the utilization of the sulphur content of byproduct ferrous sulphide from the hydrogenation of pyrites, is described. The reaction of ferrous sulphide with steam or sulphur dioxide to produce hydrogen sulphide or sulphur is considered to be impracticable. It is shown
