✦ Synopsis
Bath thcoreticai and experimental evidence is presented to demonstrate that doublet C previously observed in the j7Fe hfb'ssbauer emission spectrum of [Co(phen)3] CCIOJ)~.XI~O is mcst uniikely to originate in 3 spin triplet pound stare of iron(X). Rather doublets C and B are assigned to the intact [ "Fc(phenj3 ] (C104)~ complex and to J. complex involving one defect phen ligand, respectively. * To &r&~ bls to the stzmdard xtural iron, add +o.cl45 ITun %x-~.

Magnetic suswptibilities down to 1.2"K and 57Fe Miissbauer spectra at 42°K are reported on [Fe(pten)2 OR] \* 5H20. The results are consistent with a 3Az(~z~2~~)ground state characterized by a zero-field splitting of D = 4.150 cm-' into an upper !&Ys= +l) and a lower 10) level andg = 2.80. In reasona
