Abstract
A model supported ruthenium catalyst was prepared by sputter depositing the metal onto a thin alumina film that had been formed by anodic oxidation of aluminium foil. The metal loading could be varied by changing the time of sputtering, and in this way the growth of the metal was investigated with XPS. Static SIMS combined with temperatureβprogrammed desorption (TPD) was used to study CO adsorption and to evaluate the metalβgas bonding, as well as the metalβoxide interaction.
