Bimetallic Pt-Co and monometallic Pt and Co catalysts in as-prepared and reduced states were characterized by X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed reduction, XPS and Farier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Temperature-programmed reduction and XPS results showed that the addition of plati

## Abstract A series of cobalt‐molybdenum‐alumina catalysts was fabricated using as carriers λ‐Al~2~O~3~ doped with various amounts of sodium. Over these surfaces the H.D.S. of thiophene has been studied. A considerable decrease in the catalytic activity was observed with increasing Na^±^ content.
