โœฆ Synopsis

We reported the photochemical addition of dienes' and alkenes' to N-methylphthalimide (NMP) to give 3,4-benzo-6,7-dihydro-1-methylazepine-2,5-diones in what is formally a ~12 + u 2 addition of an alkene to the C(O)-N bond in the imide. The reaction was found to be regiospecific with respect to the direction

The photochemical reaction of cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) in acetonitrile with cyclohexene, I-octene and a series of styrene derivatives leads to the formation of 1,2--dlnitrate adducts in high yields. The reaction takes place by the intermediacy of the nitrate radical which forms in the photo
