## Abstract Nitronate anions derived from primary and secondary nitroal‐kanes undergo cross‐coupling reactions with diethyl alkylmalonate anions in alcohol/DMF solution when treated with silver nitrate. A catalytic amount of chloride ions is necessary to promote selective reaction.
