✦ Synopsis

The complex W (CO) 5 ( C02) has been observed in the gas phase by time-resolved infrared spectroscopy following 355 nm laser photolysis of W (CO)6 in the presence of CO,. The complex was shown to be in equilibrium with its precursor W (CO) s at room temperature and the bond energy for binding of CO2 to W(CO), was estimated to be 8.2 kcal mol-'.
