Abstract
The normalβacid method for the estimation of fibre in roughages by single acid digestion has been reβexamined. Increasing the time of digestion from 1 to 3 h. gives a marked improvement in the correlation with digestibility. Changes in technique are also introduced which make the method more attractive for routine use. The nitrogen content of the fibre residue is discussed.
