โฆ Synopsis
The millimeter-wave rotational spectra of the excited vibrational states ยฃ 8 ร 3 and ยฃ 8 ร 4 of the symmetric top species trifluoroacetonitrile, CF 3 CN, have been recorded for Jะ ร 19 to Jะ ร 22. The analysis indicates that the resonance found for CF 3 CCH is also present here, but that it is less important because the avoided crossing occurs at higher k values which are not observed in these spectra. The effective vibrational anharmonicity parameter, x ll , was determined as 9312(9) MHz for ยฃ 8 ร 3. The almost linear variation of the rotational constants with ยฃ 8 suggests that these behave as isolated vibrational states.
