✦ Synopsis

The millimeter-wave rotational spectra of the excited vibrational states (v_{10}=3) and (v_{10}=4) of the symmetric top species 3,3,3-trifluoropropyne (trifluoromethylacetylene), (\mathrm{CF}{3} \mathrm{CCH}), have been recorded for (J^{\prime \prime}=16) up to (J^{\prime \prime}=21). The various (l) branches have been assigned and the spectra analyzed to give rotational parameters and the vibrational anharmonicity, (x{\mu}=8135.83) (\mathrm{MHz}) for (v_{10}=3) and (8056.1 \mathrm{MHz}) for (v_{10}=4). The main interactions between states of different (l) are due to the (r_{t}(2,-1)) and (q_{t}^{+}(2,2)) interaction terms. Two types of (l)-resonance are identified, one of which is due to an avoided crossing between the (l=0) and (l=2) series which is similar to that found for the (v_{10}=2) state previously investigated. Bith states have been successfully analyzed as isolated systems. 1995 Academic Press. Inc.
