## Abstract The addition of glucose to ELD and ELT/B1 mouse ascites tumor cell suspensions caused a 2.3โfold increase in the phosphorylation state ratio, (ATP)/(ADP)(Pi), because of a decrease in the intracellular Pi concentration. The addition of glucose to these cell suspensions has been reported

โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
A bovine serum gradient was used to separate ascites tumor cells into fractions according to size and position in the cell cycle. Cells from different fractions were treated with RNase or tween 80, and the influence of this treatment on protein synthesis, membrane permeability and dry mass of the cells was studied. The results suggest that the treatment triggered events in G1 cells which may resemble processes needed for the initiation of normal cell growth.

Asymmetric cell division generates two cells that contain different regulatory proteins and express different fates. In an example of asymmetric cell division from B. subtilis, a site on the membrane of the dividing cell is chosen to establish the initial asymmetry. Recent show that a key regulatory
Since there was a progressive transition of proliferating cells into a non-proliferating resting state, as well as an increased rate of cell loss in the aging ascites tumor, we examined whether cell loss preferentially affected the nonproliferating or the proliferating cells. The effect of extracellular Pi and arsenate on Pi-transport in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells has been studied. Pi-transport can be described by Michaelis-Menten kinetics; the maximal flux equal to 44 mmoles (kg cell water)-' hour-' and K m equal to 3.3 X 1 0 -4 M. Arsenate is a competitive inhibitor o
