β¦ Synopsis
Several coal samples of various origin have been studied by complex impedance spectrometry. A physically significant parameter, N/W,, has been determined by modelling the experimental data. A model is proposed which, on a microscopic scale, coherently and logically reflects the observed processes, leading to a new coal classification based on physico-chemical properties.
