It is found that small amounts of plastic deformation greatly enhance the rate of annealing in gold quenched from 700Β°C. Wires of silver, gold, and copper and some silver-copper and silver-gold alloys were stretched at room temperature, -80Β°C and at the liquid air point. The change of resistivity was determined as well as the recovery of resistivity on warming from the low temperatures to room temperature. The silver-
