✦ Synopsis
The effect of diluent gases on gasification rates of the C-O, and C-CO2 reactions has been studied. At equal starting pressures of reactant and diiuent, rates for both reactions are: Nz > Ar > He. For the C-CO, reaction, the presence of a diiqent results in higher gasification rates than when no diluent is present in the order: Xe > N2 > AL Possible reasons for the diluent effects are discussed.
