✦ Synopsis

Dielectnc constants of Ar, Kr and Xe at room temperature are calculated by molecular dynamics in the constant-polar-Sability approximation for three potentials: the Lennard-Jones, the multip ammeter pair potential of Barker et al., and the multiparameter potential with an Axilrod-Teller three-body potential. The three-body potential has negligible effect but differences are found between the Le-d-Jones and multlparameter potentials.

The effect of diluent gases on gasification rates of the C-O, and C-CO2 reactions has been studied. At equal starting pressures of reactant and diiuent, rates for both reactions are: Nz > Ar > He. For the C-CO, reaction, the presence of a diiqent results in higher gasification rates than when no dil
