β¦ Synopsis
Chemical vapor deposition of carbon from propylene on a nickel substrate at 800Β°C was studied using a microbalance and a scanning electron microscope. On samples reduced with hydrogen the deposition rate was found to be significantly less than on those not so treated. The difference is attributed to oxygen chemisorbed on the nickel.
